Wisdom Tooth

Wisdom teeth are an issue which many people suffer from.  And here at Phillip Island Dental in Cowes, Dr Sayed can help get you feeling better again.  Our staff at Phillip Island Dental have years of expertise performing tooth extractions.  We have everything needed to make you comfortable, and ensure you will feel relaxed as possible throughout the procedure.

We also offer no interest/no credit check payment plans.  So you don’t have to worry about the bill either.

Experienced in Wisdom Teeth Extractions!

At the back of your mouth, wisdom teeth are usually the last to emerge. They come out usually between age 16 and 25.  Often called “third molars”, these teeth are often a little more difficult than the others, because they are trying to move into limited space – and therefore can be rotated, tilted, or even growing sideways. So we need to have a look with a special OPG Xray – at a free consultation – to see what the process will be for you.

If you do need time off work or school, we supply you with a medical certificate.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

Tooth Extraction

You don’t need to travel far from home to get great service.

We offer a free consultation and Xray to find out about what your situation is with your wisdom teeth.

At your appointment, we will make sure you are comfortable, and numb you up.   Your appointment may be from 40 mins to 1hr 30 mins, depending on how many wisdom teeth we are extracting at once.

The mouth and gums heal over the next few days, usually within a week or so, and we help you with instructions on how to avoid complications and infections.

Post Procedure

The mouth and gums heal really quickly, so if you follow our dentists’ simple instructions, you should have no problems.

The dentist is unlikely to give painkillers unless the procedure was very difficult, but you may take pharmacy medication as needed.

After the procedure, you’ll be advised to bite down on sterile gauze for around 30 minutes to ensure that all bleeding has stopped. You may suffer some soreness and swelling for a few days following the surgery, however if you encounter severe pain, please call our clinic.

To give the area time to clot, avoid unnecessary eating, chatting, and drinking.

After that, drink lots of fluids and limit yourself to soft foods for the first 24 hours after the treatment.

Brushing your teeth or rinsing your mouth should be avoided for at least 12 hours after the treatment.
